Viva La Diva: A Special Tribute to Maestra Fides

As part of the Abelardo Hall Concert Series this 2019, the UP College of Music will have a concert entitled, “Viva La Diva: A Special Tribute to Maestra Fides” on March 23, 2019, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, UP Diliman.

Maestra Fides Cuyugan-Asencio is a professor emeritus at the UP College of Music and formerly the chair of the Voice, Music Theatre and Dance Department. She is also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in the Performing Arts from the Philstage Gawad Buhay.

The concert will feature the faculty, students, and alumni of the Department of Voice, Music Theatre and Dance. The roster of notable performers include Prof. Ramon Acoymo, PhD, Angelica Benipayo, Rainier Cruz, Ana Feleo, Jay Glorioso, Bianca Lopez, Prof. Katherine Frances Molina, Kelly Peralejo, Stefanie Quintin, Lorna Llamas Reyes, Jeanelle Roldan, Raymond Roldan, and Nomer Son.

The concert will also have the participation of respectable performers from the other departments of the college such as Prof. Augusto Espino (Keyboard), Prof. Eric Barcelo (Winds and Percussion), and Prof. Raul Casantusan Navarro, PhD (Conducting and Choral Ensemble). The Opera Chorus Class and Oera Workshop Class will also be performing in the concert.

As the concert is held in March, which is National Women’s Month, Maestra Fides is a perfect role model for women with her valuable contribution in Philippine Theater.
