As a tribute to iconic heroes during the History Month, the UP Symphony Orchestra will have a concert entitled, “Symphonic Superheroes” on August 31, 2019, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, UP College of Music.
The concert will depict legendary characters through music: Pajaro’s Lam-ang of the Ilocanos, Salvati’s Ifugao chants, Wagner’s Valkyries from the Norse Mythology, Beethoven’s Prometheus of the Greeks, Saint-Saëns’s Samson and Delilah, and Chopin’s Don Juan. The concert also features gifted pianist and UP artist, Albert Tiu. The UP Symphony Orchestra is under the baton of the esteemed conductor, Maestro Josefino Chino Toledo.

For Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., “the Filipino is worth dying for.” Ninoy, together with Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, and Antonio Luna are Filipino heroes who showed a deep sense of nationalism. The last Monday of August is declared as National Heroes Day in our country.
