PUP, now a recognized IELTS registration center of the British Council

The British Council of Manila and The Polytechnic University of the Philippines officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding in a ceremony on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the university’s Mateo Conference Room.  The Institute of Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) under the PUP Open University System and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, believe that the British Council will be its excellent partner in promoting English Proficiency for both local and foreign students in PUP.  After several months of exchanges of ideas, both institutions have finally agreed to seal their first partnership activity as The British Council agrees to support the University’s Internationalization program.

As a new IELTS registration center, the university’s IELTS Registration Officers will be given training on enlisting prospect IELTS takers and encourage them to avail the necessary computer-based trainings being offered by the council. This will also pave way for more professional development trainings and courses for the educators of the university to further update their ideas on imparting English Proficiency among the 21st Century learners.

“This is such a dream come true, and we feel that soon, we can move forward as a recognized IELTS Testing Center.” According to Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman, the university’s president.

Among the PUP Officials and attendees during the MOU signing were: Dr. Manuel C. De Guzman, President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Carmencita L. Castolo, Executive Director of the PUP Open University System, Prof. Clarisse De Leon – HEA, Dr. Jerielyn V. Reyes, Marketing Chief of the ICPD, and Mr. Rolando P. Quinones, Jr., ICPD’s Training Chief.  The British Council’s attendees were: Ms. Pauline Mabesa, Country Examinations Manager, Mr. Aris Malli (Business Pursuit Manager), Mr. Rhon Guevara (Business Development Officer), Ms. Apa Feliciano (Communications Officer), and Ms. Jessica Dela Cruz (Communications Officer).
