PUP Bags Silver Anvil at PRSP Grand Prix 2019

Manila, Philippines – Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ (PUP) PR Team D’3’N’1 (The 3 in 1) consisting of 7 freshmen students from Bachelor of Advertising and Public Relations bagged the first ever anvil of the university in the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) Grand Prix and Student Congress’ PR Plan category, held at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde last November 28 & 29.

“R U OK? The Role of PR in Speaking the Truth about Mental Health” is the theme of this year’s PRSP Grand Prix and Student Congress. With this, the PUP team created a campaign plan that will help break the existing stigma around mental health and spread awareness aimed at initiating serious talks on said issue.

The campaign plan is titled “Don’t Start the Timer” focusing on the fact that for every 40 seconds, a person dies because of suicide. Don’t Start the Timer explore the use of out of the box guerilla tactics to stress the importance of not starting the worst 40 seconds for people with mental illnesses.

The judges praised the campaign as mind boggling, and very effective in sending the urgency of the issue to the public. Also, Andy Saracho president of PRSP, said that the campaign was creative and the most feasible amongst all the entry.

“This year’s PRSP Student Congress did not just help us to experience the PR field hands on, but it also made us realize the power of public relations in shaping the society… it may be for good or bad. It will be a lifelong commitment to help for the betterment of everyone with what we can offer,” said Michelle Lim, one of the members of the team..
