By: PIA

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Feb. 15 (PIA) – – The Philippine Information Agency, in partnership with the Informers’ Club Media Association (i-Club), launched the Candidates’ Hour program, Friday (Feb. 15).

PIA-2 Regional Director Purita S. Licas, chair of the i-Club, said the program aims to provide an avenue for all local candidates vying for public office, to present their platforms of government.

“This program will give every candidate the opportunity to inform the public of their thrusts and plans for their constituents. It will also give the voters the opportunity to select the best among the candidates,” Licas said.

Lawyer Boris Banawag, legal counsel of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Region 2, said the program will enable voter empowerment as it provides channel for the voters to determine who among the candidates have the best agenda in running for a public office.

The Candidates’ Hour will run up to April to be conducted at the PIA Conference Hall every Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

To accommodate all candidates who would be willing to present their platform in the program before the election day, the organizers will set special episodes if needed.

Lawyer Jims Dandy Ramos, Tuguegarao City election officer, further urged the candidates to take the program seriously as it will give them the opportunity to present their platform. He also advised voters, he advised to be wise in selecting their candidates who will be running the government for three years.

Licas, for her part, urged the candidates and the supporters to avoid negative arguments witha their opponents as the program merely aims to provide a venue for candidates to present their own platforms of government. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
