The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) welcomed the 60-member delegation of the Worldship Orchestra from Japan, as it performed for PHSA students and public school students from surrounding towns of Laguna last March 1. The group performed at PHSA National Arts Center, Police Regional Office Calabarzon inside Camp Vicente Lim and Camp Vicente Lim National High School. These local concert tours make up its educational outreach program.
The free concerts were led by its Japanese leader Akio Nozawa while Oggie Cayetano served as its Filipino Coordinator and program emcee.
The concert also featured music students from PHSA and members of the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) who performed alongside their Japanese counterparts.
The Worldship Orchestra is composed of 60 young Japanese musicians who volunteered their time and talent to bring the magic and experience of live orchestral concert to people especially the youth who rarely have a chance to experience the power and majesty symphonic music. They have been visiting the Philippines since 2014. Their final performance is at the Open Air Auditorium of Rizal Park, Manila, March 3 at 6pm.
