‘Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief’ to hit Broadway

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief the musical is expected to hit a 16-week run in broadway starting September 2019.

The musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel debuted in 2017 at the Lucille Lortel Theater in New York City, according to a report by Variety.

It follows Percy Jackson, a demi-god son of Poseidon who discovers he has powers. With others like him, Percy goes on a quest to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt to prevent a war between the Greek gods.

It will be a stripped-down affair with seven actors playing nearly 50 roles.

The book is written by Joe Tracz, and music and lyrics are by Rob Rokicki, who will be making his Broadway debut in this franchise.

The Lightning Thief is the first book to Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians, published in 2005. The series has five books in total.
