Károly, Jenö, and Franz: The Enduring Chamber Music of Goldmark, Takács, and Liszt

In commemoration of the life and works of Jenő Takács for his 117th birth anniversary, The UP College of Music together with the Embassy of Hungary in the Philippines will hold a concert of chamber music from renowned Hungarian composers: Károly Goldmark, Jenö Takács, and Franz Liszt.

The concert will be held on September 25, 2019, Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, UP College of Music. The concert will feature the Lozada Piano Trio.

The Lozada Piano Trio was formed in memory of the talented international Filipina violinist, Carmencita Lozada (1940–2006). The Lozada Piano Trio is composed of the best Filipino collaborative musicians. Performing for this concert are Ralph Waldo Taylan (violin), Giuseppe Andre Diestro (cello), and Ena Maria Aldecoa (piano).

Taylan is the concertmaster of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. Meanwhile, Diestro is the principal cellist of the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra.

Presently, Prof. Ena Aldecoa is the Chair of the Keyboard Department of the UP College of Music and also the artistic director of the Art Song Academy, Manila.

Before the concert, as a symbol of cultural diplomacy between Hungary and the Philippines, Ambassador Dr. József Bencze and the Dean of the UP College of Music, Prof. LaVerne David C. de la Peña will unveil a historical marker in recognition for Takács’s achievements as well his efforts to preserve Philippine culture and his contributions to Philippine music pedagogy and research.
