Int’l River Foundation to help PH in river restoration, management

The International River Foundation has expressed its support and partnership with the Philippine Government in river restoration and management.

International River Foundation chief operating officer Dr. Eva Abal made the expression of support during the International Training – Workshop on Integrated Water Resource Management held in Cauayan City last February 5, 2019.

Abal cited the partnership of the foundation with Oceana Gold Philippines in the restoration of river in the area since it will be for the benefit of the public particularly, the future generation.

“We also partnered with Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and State Universities and Colleges in the country in the establishments of real time information on river behavior,” Abal said.

She said the International River Foundation shares its expertise in river restoration and management to other countries, including the Philippines. 

Meanwhile, DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña has emphasized the importance of water management saying that without water, there will be no existing living things on earth as water gives life, provides harvest for animal and human consumption and many other benefits.
