The UP Symphony Orchestra (UPSO) will hold a concert entitled, “Faith, Hope, and Devotion: Lenten Reflections in Music” on April 11, 2019 (Thursday), 7:00 p.m., at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, UP College of Music, Diliman.

It will feature the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Maria Christine Muyco, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Chorus classes from the UP College of Music will also perform in the concert.

As the official system-wide orchestra of the University of the Philippines, UPSO has been dubbed as the “Orkestra ng Bayan.” Its members include students, faculty, staff, and alumni from UP Diliman, Manila, and Los Baños. The UP Symphony Orchestra made its official public debut during the open-air Christmas concert in 2018.

The UP Symphony Orchestra is under the baton of renowned conductor and composer, Maestro Josefino Chino Toledo. Toledo is a full professor at the UP College of Music where he teaches music composition and theory. Toledo is also known for being the founding music director of the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra (MMCO).

Featuring works of classical composers and contemporary Filipino compositions, this special Lenten concert will surely captivate the audience and touch their hearts as UPSO renders religious and spiritual pieces for a solemn observance of the Holy Week.

Tickets cost P250 and P500. For ticket reservations, call 926-0026 or click the link at https://forms.gle/dWvLya8E1hxPwAik6.
