DND allots P48.5-M to buy ammo

MANILA — To ensure that military units have enough ammunition for any eventualities, the Department of National Defense-Government Arsenal (DND-GA) in Limay, Bataan is allocating PHP48.5 million to buy a total of one million 5.56mm bullets and 7.62 tracer cartridges.

To be bought are 700,000 rounds of 5.56mm M855/SS109 bullet and 300,000 rounds of 7.62mm tracer cartridges, the bid bulletin posted at the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System said.

Winning bidders are required to deliver the items in 150 days.

The pre-bid conference is scheduled for October 17, 1:30 p.m. at the Government Arsenal, Camp General Antonio Luna, Lamao, Limay, Bataan.

The 5.56mm bullets are used to arm the various models of the M-16 automatic rifles and M-4 carbine used by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines while the 7.62mm cartridges are for the sniper rifles and light machineguns for the military. (PNA)
