SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is conducting a roadshow and demonstration on the vote counting machine (VCM) in this city’s Central Elementary School to ensure the right process and audit procedure for the May 13 mid-term elections.
Lawyer Juliet C. Villar, the provincial election supervisor, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday that the poll body has embarked on the VCM roadshow for the towns of Laguna’s 3rd District — Alaminos, Calauan, Rizal, Nagcarlan, Liliw, and San Pablo City — starting April 5 with more towns and cities scheduled next week.
“We are conducting this roadshow to inform the electorate on the process in using the machine, ensure the integrity of their ballots and assure the counting is correct,” Villar said.
She said the VCM demonstration at the public elementary school’s Amante Stadium was witnessed by local candidates and their supporters.
She also assured that more roadshows will be conducted in the three other legislative district towns and cities in Laguna after the Holy Week.
Villar said the final testing of the VCMs and sealing of ballot boxes will be done during the first week of May prior to the elections when these are installed at the various precincts and voting centers throughout the province. (Ruben E. Taningco/PNA)
