Cauayan City proposes new urban core

By: PIA

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Feb. 13 (PIA)—With the recent surge in the growth of Cauayan City, accompanied by uncontrolled urban sprawl, the city government recently proposed to the Regional Development Council the establishment of a new urban core.

Mayor Bernard Faustino M. Dy said the new urban core, which will be established in barangay San Luis, aims to provide a new and better planned growth center with the end view of unlocking and stimulating the economic potentials of the eastern part of Cauayan City and other nearby municipalities.

Dy said the proposal will not only reduce the development disparity within the city but will also establish a compact model city to ensure the ecological use of land resources as well as to promote an integrated and sustainable urban-rural mobility to support productivity, competitiveness and inclusiveness
