ROXAS, Isabela — At least 8,000 women gathered at the Roxas Municipal Hall on March 9 to celebrate the International Women’s Month in this province.

The attendees who are mostly members of the group Avance Isabelina marched, danced and express their rights to health and better services.

Cristine Dy, Avance Isabelina adviser, said all women should strive for health benefits and the protection of their rights at the barangay level.

The attendees wore white shirts, and wrapped their wrists with red-and-violet ribbons to show solidarity with women’s rights,.

Gabriela partylist Rep. Arlene Brosas, who also graced the event, encouraged female barangay residents to open up when they experience domestic violence or harassment. Senator Cynthia Villar also joined the celebration.

Roxas town was selected as the convergence point of women from the municipalities of Aurora, Burgos, Luna, Mallig, Quezon, Quirino, and San Manuel. (PIA 2-Cagayan)
