ZAMBOANGA CITY — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) backed by other lawmen arrested six persons as they dismantled a drug den and seized some PHP136,000 worth of suspected shabu in this city, an official said Thursday.

Lawyer Jacquelyn de Guzman, PDEA regional director, identified the arrested drug personalities as Jerico Factora, 40; and Joseph Hipolito, 33; both drug den maintainers; Eduardo Damgo, 30; Ramon Dominguez Jr., 33; Rogelio Meniano Jr., 37; and, Niño Balbuena, 37, all visitors of the drug den.

De Guzman said they were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Azzura Hotel in Barangay Putik, following the surveillance on the suspects’ alleged illegal drug trade activities.

Some 20 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP136,000, illegal drug paraphernalia, PHP1,000 marked money, PHP6,850 cash, and other pieces of evidence were seized from the suspects, the PDEA official said.

Cases for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspects. (PNA)
